Jefferson Volleyball Sophomores Recognized
On Saturday, the Jefferson Volleyball Sophomores were honored in the last home match.
Lady Canoneers finish off regular season 13-4 (Conference 6-1) with our victory over visiting SUNY Adirondack 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-15). Gabrielle Morley finished strong with 11 kills, 2 blocks, and 1 dig. Alexis Cruz had a great day with 9 kills, 4 aces, 2 blocks, and 6 digs. Bayleigh Woodard also finished strong with 21 assist and 13 digs. Kaylee Clark tallied 9 kills and 18 digs. Amelia Lyon finished strong with 14 assist, 7 kills, 10 digs, 2 aces, and 1 block. Emily Farrand provided 5 kills and 16 digs. Sarah Towles tallied 9 digs, 4 aces, and 2 kills. Aylssa O'Connor finished with 8 digs, 2 aces, and 1 kill, . Kailin McManaman provided 1 kill and 1 dig. The Cannoneers are seeded #2 in the East Division and will compete at NJCAA region 3 regionals on Saturday 10/30/21 (at Niagara Community College) starting at 10am vs Finger lakes Community College, then SUNY Adirondack and finish the pool play with SUNY Broome. The Canoneers are ready to get back in the gym to prepare for a weekend full of volleyball!

#3 Alyssa O'Connor-Libero:
Alyssa is majoring in physical education right now and is looking to receive her Associates Degree this spring, she would then like to transfer to SUNY Cortland to pursue a Physical Education Degree. Alyssa will come out of nowhere to dig up the ball you thought was a guaranteed kill and her wit is as fast as her feet, which made for lots of laughs this season. Alyssa is fierce, and giving up just isn't an option. So far this season she has racked up 129 digs, 16 assists, 7 kills, and 16 service aces. We will miss your mental toughness, reflexes, and crazy digs.
#6 Kailin McManaman-Outside Hitter:
Kailin is majoring in natural science right now and is looking to receive her Associates Degree this spring, she would then like to transfer to SUNY Potsdam to pursue an Early Childhood Education Degree. Don't let her happy demeanor fool you, Kailin is a versatile hitter with a whip for an arm. She accepted every challenge this season with giving top notch effort at two positions and always giving encouragement to her team. So far this season she has racked up 20 kills, 5 blocks, 23 digs, 4 service aces, and a 96.2 serve in percentage. We will miss your coachability, fast arm swing, and mental toughness.
#9-Amelia Lyon-Setter:
Amelia is majoring in allied health right now and is looking to receive her Associates Degree this winter, she would then like to attend Jefferson CC's nursing program next fall. Amelia is quite stoic by nature, but when she gets a block or tips the ball just in front of the opponent, her whole face lights up with a huge grin. It was exhilarating to watch her dive more this season than every past season combined! So far this season she has racked up 200 assists, 109 digs, 25 kills, and 18 service aces with a 96.6 serve in percentage. We will miss your consistent focus, mental toughness, and willingness to fight for every point.
#12 Kaylee Clark-Outside Hitter:
Kaylee received her Allied Health Associates Degree spring 2021 and is taking a full fall semester before transferring to St. John Fisher College this spring to pursue a Nursing Degree. Kaylee reads the game of volleyball so smoothly it's like she's reading Dr. Seuss - she is always ready for the unexpected and always seems to put the ball wherever an opponent is not. Kaylee will try every trick of the trade until something works. So far this season she has racked up 47 kills, 134 digs, and 14 service aces with a 92.5 serve in percentage. We will miss your never-give-up mentality, grit, and mental toughness.
#14 Bayleigh Woodard-Setter:
Bayleigh is majoring in humanities and social sciences right now is looking to receive her Associates Degree this spring, she would then like to transfer to a 4 year college to continue playing volleyball and pursue a Early Childhood Education Degree. Bayleigh is a dedicated setter who will do anything in her power to make a ball hittable whether it's running across the court or setting from one knee, Bayleigh will make it work. She's the first to celebrate every point and plays her heart out no matter what the score. So far this season she has racked up 184 assists, 70 digs, and 11 service aces. We will miss your silliness, mental toughness, and hustle.
#15 Sarah Towles-Libero/Defensive Specialist:
Sarah is majoring in natural sciences right now and is looking to receive her Associates Degree this spring, she would then transfer to University of Buffalo to pursue a Natural Science Degree. Sarah is one of those wonderful players who is all business on the court, game face included, but will giggle to the point of tears on the bus or in a huddle. She doesn't let anything stop her from giving max effort on defense and is spectacularly supportive of her team. So far this season she has racked up 92 digs, 3 kills, 6 service aces, and leads the team with a 98.8 serve in percentage. We will miss your determination, mental toughness, and serving.
