In the season opener in front of a crowd of 200, the Women's basketball team jumped out to a 24-10 lead after the first quarter over SUNY Jamestown. The Lady Jayhawks held the Lady Cannoneers to 8 points in the second quarter to pull within 7. Jefferson came out after the half and held the Jamestown to 5 3rd quarter points and cruised to a 63-41 win. Jefferson was led by Daelynn Alcock (Indian River) who recorded a double, double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Freshman, Delaney Wiley (Thousand Islands) who scored 12 points and recorded 5 assists. Wiley played outstanding defense and held Jayhawks leading scorer to just 6 points. Other key contributors were Bridget Watson (Alexandria Bay) secured 12 rebounds, Abby Raven (Ogdensburg) 8 points and 8 rebounds, Kori Nichols (General Brown) - 7 points, recorded 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and LaKaiya Butcher (Massaponax, Va) 7 Points and 8 Rebounds.
Cannoneers are on the road for a Mid-State Conference opener on Thursday 11/9 at Genesee CC.
