Cross Country Compete in the SUNY Canton Kangaroo Invitational
The Jefferson Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams competed in the Kangaroo Invitational
The men and women cannoneer runners traveled to SUNY Canton for the Kangaroo Invitational this past weekend where they competed against NCAA and NJCAA teams from Vermont and New York.
The Lady Cannoneers raced 6 kilometers this past weekend and easily handled the extra 1 kilometer as they finished in 3rd place overall. The Cannoneer runners came off a tough week of training and only 1 day of rest after a strong workout on Thursday. They were led by a strong performance by Alannah Cook finishing 16th overall with a time of 28:19, she was followed by great performances by Maddy Neukirch and Shania Spicer finishing 22nd and 23rd in 31:16 and 31:29 respectively. Following them were Maddi Sochia in 34:35 (28th), Hanna Neukirch in 34:37 (29th) and Erica Dixon in 39:40 (33rd).
The men also ran strong races after a tough week of training. The Cannoneers were led by Adama Samake completing the 8-kilometer course in 36:56 finishing in 42nd place. He was followed by Oscar Middleton and Jacob Maloney, both running personal bests with times of 38:47 and 40:03 respectively. They were followed by Scott Matthews completing his first ever college cross country race with a time of 63:07.
The Cannoneers next meet will be the Mid-State Athletic Conference on October 19th at Finger Lakes Community College.
