Jefferson Volleyball on a roll!

On Saturday, September 8, 2012 the Jefferson Volleyball team traveled to Corning Community College in what became a very successful weekend for the Lady Cannoneers!  On Saturday they competed in pod play competition against Broome Community College, Tompkins-Cortland Community College, and Corning Community College.  The women defeated all 3 teams!  Here are the scores:

Jefferson vs Broome:  25-22; 25-23; 23-25; 25-18

Jefferson vs Tompkins-Cortland:  25-10; 25-7; 23-25; 25-15

Jefferson vs Corning:  25-23; 23-25; 25-19; 25-20

On Sunday, Jefferson Volleyball played Corning Community College in their regular MSAC, Mid-States Athletic Conference, match-up. Again the Lady Cannoneers showed their tenacity by defeating the Red Barons 3-2 (23-25; 25-23; 23-25; 25-18; 15-11).  

Coach Kent had this to say about her girls after an outstanding weekend:

"Ashley Capone finished with 38 kills, 36 service points and 15 blocks.  The captains led the girls to defeat some strong teams, Katie Peters had 86 digs and 27 service points while Lahni Duffer had 132 assists, 38 service points, and 42 digs.  The smart outside hitting by Francesca Barajas with 31 kills and Katie Slate with 25 kills helped lead the team to victory. Hannah McGregor finished with 12 service points, 34 kills, and 14 blocks.  She toughed it out Sunday against Corning when we really needed her after a hard collision with Katie Slate.  The team is now 6-2 overall and are looking forward to Wednesday's match against Finger Lakes at home."
