#10 Fulton-Montgomery Upsets #5 Lady Cannoneers, 62–51
Jefferson Women's Basketball falls to Fulton-Montgomery,
The #5-ranked Cannoneers welcomed #10 Fulton-Montgomery to Jefferson on Saturday in a highly anticipated Top-10 matchup, and the game lived up to the billing early with both teams trading momentum throughout.
Jefferson came out on fire, jumping out to an 8–0 lead to open the contest. Fulton-Montgomery responded with poise, closing the first quarter on a 9–4 run to keep the game tight. In the second quarter, the Cannoneers briefly stretched their advantage to nine points before the Raiders answered once again, ending the half on a 7–0 run to cut the deficit to just 30–28 at the break.
The Cannoneers maintained a slim lead throughout the entire third quarter, playing disciplined defense and controlling the tempo until Fulton tied the game at 41–41 with a late 4–0 surge. That momentum carried into the fourth quarter, where Jefferson struggled to find its offensive rhythm. Fulton-Montgomery seized the opportunity, outscoring the Cannoneers 21–10 in the final period to secure the 62–51 upset victory.
With the loss, the Cannoneers move to 5–2 on the season and will look to bounce back in their next outing.
