The Lady Cannoneers Edge the Lady Red Barons 70-61
Jefferson Women's Basketball team defeat visiting Corning.
On Saturday the Lady Cannoneers entered their fifth game in ten days against MSAC foe Corning Community College. A big game for both teams for Region 3 and MSAC placement, both teams would spend an extended period of time feeling each other out in the first quarter. Both teams would battle back and forth, Corning would finish the quarter with a 2 point lead behind a handful of three point field goals. Looking to pick up the pace Jefferson would bounce back in the second quarter outscoring the Lady Red Barons by 8 points to hold a six point half time lead.
Jefferson would continue to apply pressure in transition and try to speed up the pace of play throughout the second half. Corning would fight valiantly with both teams scoring 19 points in the third quarter. Saturdays final would be another close contest for the Lady Cannoneers, and another MSAC victory in the win column. Jefferson would edge Corning 70-61 to move to 4-1 in Mid State Athletic Conference play, and 7-7 overall. Sophomore forward Alyson Crosby would have a stellar performance tallying 20 points, and a school record 25 rebounds! Ashlyn Eyles would have another solid performance with 19 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. Isabella Soluri, and Chelsey Raven scored 14 and 13 points respectfully.
Jefferson enters their Conferences bye week, they will travel to SUNY Broome CC next Saturday to face off with the Lady Hornets at 1 pm in Binghamton!
