Jefferson Softball Split with the Lady Generals

SUNY Jefferson hosted Herkimer in a Regional doubleheader on Thursday April 23.  The game would be scoreless through the first 3 innings as a pitcher's duel was shaping up.  Jefferson would dent the scoreboard in the bottom of the 4^th inning as Brooke Matys lead of the inning with a bunt single.  Matys would steal second base and come around to score on a Lizzy Hobbs single.  The home team would get two insurance runs in the bottom of the 5^th courtesy of a Olivia Dalin single and a throwing error by Herkimers catcher.  Layla Killino would single home Matys later in the inning giving Jefferson a 3-0 lead.  That would be all the scoring in the game as Killino tossed a 4 hit shutout striking out 10 batters.  Shea O'Dell contributed two hits including a double for the victors.

Game 2 would see Herkimer jump out to a 3-0 lead after 2 innings. The Cannoneers would battle back plating 1 run in the 3^rd via a Kayla Warden RBI triple and 2 runs in the 6^th courtesy of a leadoff triple by Killino and a run scoring single by Dalin.  Shea O'Dell would hold the Generals in check two outs into the 7^th.  Extra innings saw the Cannoneers score twice in the top of the 8^th.  Herkimer would battle back to score two of their own to send it to the 9^th frame.  Herkimer would walk it off in the bottom of the 9^th via a wild pitch to pull out the 6-5 win. 

The Cannoneers will host Monroe Tribunes on Sunday April 26^th as the team celebrates Sophomore Day.
