Lady Cannoneers Split with the Lady Generals

The Cannoneers host the Herkimer Generals who are ranked in the top 10 in the nation for a big double header as Jefferson approaches the end of the regular season hoping to secure a top spot in the region.

The Generals struck first in the first of game 1 with a two-run homerun to take an early 2-0 lead.  Kiannah Ward answered back to cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single making the score 2-1.  The Cannoneer bats would remain relatively quiet throughout most of the game, as an RBI walk for Ward was the only other run scored entering the 7^th inning for the Cannoneers.  Entering the bottom of the 7^th down 6-2, the Cannoneers put together a hug rally as Brooke Beleza, Torie Moore, and Hailey McGrew all came around to score making the game 6-5.  Jefferson would get the tying runner on base but fell short and dropped game 1 by a score of 6-5 but would take that momentum from the rally right into game 2.

Game 2 Jefferson struck first in a big way.  Brooke Beleza, Kiannah Ward, Torie Moore, and Hailey McGrew all drove in runs to give the Cannoneers a first inning 4-0 lead.  The Cannoneers would not score again until Jadyn Childers drove in Emily Birmingham with a triple into the corner.  Rachael Shackleton followed behind with a sac fly making the score 6-1.  Torie Moore would drive in a run and later score from first on a throwing error to push across 2 more insurance runs.  Rachael Shackleton was sharp on the mound allowing just 3 earned runs in the game as Jefferson splits a massive series with Herkimer and look to take the momentum into the final stretch of the season.
