Lady Cannoneers Win Double Header in Home Opener
Jefferson Softball wins home opener!
The Cannoneers held their home opener in a double header against Monroe Community College. The offense came early and often in game 1, with the Cannoneers seeing 6 different players with 2 hits. Rachael Shackleton led the way tallying 3 RBIs to go with her two hits and was followed by Brooke Beleza who drove in 2 RBIs as well. Shackleton continued her effort in the circle pitching 4 innings of scoreless ball adding in 6 strikeouts and allowing just the one hit. The Cannoneers would go on to win game 1, 14-1
Game 2 was led by Brianna Grant throwing 3 and a third innings allowing just 4 earned runs. The offense was stagnant through the first 4 innings as the Cannoneers trailed 7-3. However a late rally in the top of the 7th inning where the Cannoneers pushed across 6 runs saw Jefferson take a late lead and eventually go onto win game 2, 11-8. Jadyn Childers led the way in hits going 3-4 at the plate, and 6 different Cannoneers had RBIs in the comeback effort.
