5-1-2021 The Cannoneers Softball Team traveled to Monroe Community College to take on the Tribunes in a doubleheader. SUNY Jefferson would take a 2-0 first inning lead on RBI singles by Isabella Soluri and Riley Dowlearn. The Cannoneers would score 5 more in the 3rd inning and 2 more in the 4th inning for a 9-0 lead. The Tribunes would score 1 run in the bottom of the 5th off Cannoneers starting pitcher Sarah Johnson and game 1 would end in 5 innings by a 9-1 score. Johnson scattered 4 hits in her 5 innings of work, striking out 10 and walking 0. Leah Briones and Riley Dowlearn lead the SUNY Jefferson offense with 3 hits each and Sarah Johnson and Kaylee Johnson chipped in with 2 hits apiece.
The Cannoneers would once again strike early in game 2, taking a 3-0 lead after 2 innings. The Tribunes would tie the game in the top of the 3rd on a 3-Run HR by Alexia Wheeler. Jefferson would regain the 3-run cushion plating 3 in the bottom half of the inning that included an RBI double by Justine White. Cannoneers starting pitcher Georgia Barton would allow only 1 more run the rest of the way and the Cannoneers would score an additional 6 runs to end the game in 6 innings by a score of 12-4. Leah Briones once again had 3 hits for the Cannoneers. Izzy Soluri and Kaylee Johnson had 2 hits and 4 RBI apiece and Justine White had 2 hits.
SUNY Jefferson's record improves to 16-10.
5-2-2021 The Monroe Community College Tribunes traveled to SUNY Jefferson to take on the Cannoneers in a softball doubleheader. The Tribunes opened the scoring in the top of the 1st inning plating 1 run. The Cannoneers would answer in the home half of the first by scoring 5 runs, the big blow coming off the bat of Marissa Valvo who connected for her first collegiate HR with two players on base. SUNY Jefferson would blow it open in the second inning by scoring 13 runs. Cannoneer starter Sarah Johnson allowed 2 earned runs in 4 innings of work to earn the win and improving her record to 9-6. Valvo would add two more hits and 2 more runs batted in, while Isabella Soluri and Emily Beck each chipped in with 3 hits and 3 RBI apiece.
The Cannoneers completed the 4-game weekend sweep of the Tribunes by taking game two by a score of 13-5. Georgia Barton pitched to her 9th win on the season for the victors scattering 7 hits and allowing 3 earned runs. Isabella Soluri and Leah Briones each had 3 hits for the Cannoneers. The Cannoneers finish the regular season at 18-10 and await their seeding and matchup for the Regional Playoffs next weekend.
