The Cannoneers played their best soccer of the year to post an upset win over the visiting Hudson Valley Vikings on Saturday. The game was back and forth as Jefferson would take a 1-0 lead as Tanner Jones worked his way into the 18-yard box and Hudson Valley would commit a foul on him. Jones would step up and calmly bury the penalty kick for a 1-0 laed in the first 10 minutes. That score would stay the same until less than 30 seconds in the first half as Hudson Valley scored on a direct kick for a 1-1 halftime score.
The second half would see the Vikings score first and take a 2-1 lead. The Cannoneers would battle and finally tie the score on another Tanner Jones penalty kick with a little over 10 minutes to go. The Cannoneers would continue to pressure the Vikings and get the game winner on a beautiful strike from Kyle Gaumes into the upper corner with 6 minutes to go and hold on for a well-deserved 3-2 win.
