Cannoneers open Second Semester with tough loss to FLCC
Jefferson Men's Basketball suffered their first loss in 9 games, but bounced back and have won 3 straight.
The Jefferson Men's Basketball team opened the second part of their schedule with a tough loss at home to Finger Lakes CC. It was a well played, high scoring affair as the visitors found a way to close out the game in the second half. Leading the way for the Cannoneers were Javon Hunter with 28 points, Latrelle Lee with 24 points and 9 rebounds, Trevane Jones with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Ismaeel Safo with 16 points. It was the Cannoneers first loss in 9 games.
The Cannoneers made the long trip home from Corning and had to return right to the hardwood of their home court to face Clinton Community College on Sunday afternoon in a Region 3 contest. The Cannoneers showed no fatigue and ran away with the game by a score of 111-74. Leading the way the for the Cannoneers were 6 players in double figures led by Karaan Newsome with 17 points and 5 assists. Following were Trevane Jones with 16 points and 9 rebounds, Ismaeel Safo with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks, Javon Hunter with 14 points and 6 assists, Latrelle Lee with 11 points and Christian Rohlehr with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks. Rounding out the scoring for the Cannoneers were Orville Crooks and Kevin Zabawa with 8 points each, Natell Windley with 7 points and Terris Purnell with 6 points and 4 assists. The Cannoneers now stand at 12-4 heading into the home stretch of their schedule.
