Cannoneers handle Schenectady County
The Jefferson Men's Basketball take care of visiting Schenectady and Fulton-Montgomery this past weekend.
The Cannoneers jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back as they defeated the Royals of Schenectady County CC on Saturday by the final score of 92-77. Limiting the Royals to just 2 points in the first 8 minutes was the difference in the game as the Cannoneers were able to get easy baskets off their defensive efforts and never looked back. Leading the way for the Cannoneers were Trevane Jones with 25 points, followed by Deshawn Cann and Karan Newsome with 14 points each, Javon Hunter chipped in with 12 points followed by Christian Rohlehr with 9 points and Natell Windley with 8 points. Once again, it was balanced team effort on both ends of the floor that produced the victory for the Cannoneers.
On Sunday, the Cannoneers hosted Fulton-Montgomery CC and this turned out to be one of the best games of the year. This game would be hotly contested throughout with the Cannoneers finally prevailing in 2 overtimes to gain the Region 3 victory, by the final score of 108-103. It was once again a balanced attack that carried the Cannoneers to victory as 4 players were in Double figures again. Leading the way were Deshawn Cann with 28 points followed by TJ Jones with 25 points and Jovan Hunter with 22 points. Karaan Newsome continued his steady play off the bench with 14 points in the winning effort. It was the fourth straight victory for the the Cannoneers and they will look to continue their winning streak on Dec. 1 versus Tompkins Cortland CC at 7:00PM.
