eSports Results for the Week of 10/07/24-10/11/24
eSports rounded out another week of gaming.
It was an action-packed week for Cannoneer Esports from October 7-11, with teams competing across several titles and showcasing their competitive talents. On October 7, the Fortnite team secured a 2-0 victory against Pensacola State College, thanks to the impressive efforts of Andrew Pierce and Ian Jarrard, who combined for 41 eliminations in game 1. Pierce continued to dominate with 35 total eliminations across the two-game set. However, they faced a narrow 2-1 loss to Rose State College despite a strong comeback attempt from Carson Chambers and Trevor McIntyre, falling by just one elimination in the final map.
On October 8, the Fortnite Builds Team showcased a 2-0 sweep over Marshalltown College. Meanwhile, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team experienced mixed results, suffering a 0-4 loss to Jefferson College but rebounding with a 4-1 victory over USC Sumter. They later fell 0-4 to Marshalltown and Dan Peguera defeated Harry Scott for some Cannoneer vs Cannoneer action. The Call of Duty team faced a tough 0-3 loss to USC Sumter, but standout player Dan Peguera went 2-0 for the week without dropping a single round, and Jack Rattray earned a flawless 4-0 victory in his matchup.
The Overwatch team had a difficult outing on October 9, losing 0-3 to both Jefferson State and North Iowa Area Community College. On October 10, the Mario Kart team experienced a series of ups and downs, securing a 4-2 win against Luzerne County and a 4-0 sweep of Lake Region State College. However, they faced defeats against Northwest College (0-4), Seward County (1-4), and Danville Area CC (0-4). The Valorant team also fell 0-2 to Monroe College, but Justin Woodall remained undefeated on the season, going 2-0 for the week.
The week concluded on a high note on October 11, with the Super Smash Crew team of Dan Peguera, Jack Rattray, and Remi McCauley delivering a commanding 2-0 sweep against Utah State University.
