Jefferson Cannoneers Open Series Teams Kicked off their Fall Seasons This Week
Jefferson eSports off to a great start in their Fall Season!
Jefferson Cannoneers Open Series teams kicked off their fall seasons this week. This fall, Jefferson will field a team or teams in Fortnite, Call of Duty, Overwatch 2, and Valorant with potential for more games and teams as the season progresses.
Monday (9/18): The Cannoneers had 4 duos with matches this week for Fortnite. All matches are a best of 3, elimination race style competition. Team 1 was up against Central Lakes College and won the best of 3 match after a full series - winning the match 2 games to 1. Team 2 defeated their matchup of Heartland College in a sweep, 2 games to 0. Team 3 matched against Pratt Community College took their series to 3 games, however unfortunately lost the deciding match dropping the series 2 games to 1. Team 4 dropped their match to Iowa Central, losing 2 games to 0
Tuesday (9/19): Jefferson's Call of Duty team started their season off matched against Central Community College in a best of 5 series. Game 1 saw Jefferson win the first map on Zarqwa Hydroelectric hardpoint in a dominating fashion winning by over 100 seconds. Map 2 was a closely contested matchup, as the game switched to search and destroy on Embassy. The match was back and forth but the Cannoneers came out on top 6-4. Map 3 Jefferson struggled to get anything going as the team was swept on Asilo control. Fortunately, the Cannoneers bounced back to win map 4 on Mercado; a map in which they trailed early in the game. With this map 4 win, Jefferson wins the series 3 games to 1.
Wednesday (9/20): The Overwatch team matched against Arkansas State University Three Rivers for a best of 5 contest. Game 1 Jefferson dominated early. The Cannoneers controlled the objectives and displayed excellent team plays mixed with well-timed individual performances to sweep map 1 and take an early series lead. Map 2, Jefferson once again dominated on defense, setting themselves up nicely for the attack phase and easily take map 2. Map 3 was much of the same as the Cannoneers continued their excellent play and swept the series 3 games to 0 and won their first match of the season
Thursday (9/21): Jefferson's Valorant team matches up against Missouri State University. Map 1 was controlled by the Cannoneers. After dropping the fist round, Jefferson retaliated with 8 unanswered wins - eventually taking map 1 13-3. Map 2 was a close contest: after leading 6-2 early, Missouri State evened the score at 8. A massive 1v3 situation in the late stages of the map would end up propelling the Cannoneers to a 2-0 series sweep.
