Jefferson Closes Out Inaugural Cranberry Classic With Sweep

Game Summary – Inaugural Cranberry Classic 

The inaugural Cranberry Classic delivered all the intensity expected from a new cross-border showcase, as Redeemer University made the trip from Ontario to face the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers. With both teams eager to set the tone for what hopes to become an annual tradition, the matchup quickly turned into a fast-paced, physical, and high-scoring affair. Momentum swung repeatedly, but Jefferson's depth and special-teams execution ultimately made the difference in a spirited contest. 

1st Period 
The opening frame remained relatively tight, with both teams feeling out the pace of the game. It was an intense, hard-fought period with many chances but no goals until Redeemer scored a late goal with just 44 seconds left. Despite several opportunities for Jefferson, Redeemer's defense stood strong, and the Royals carried a 1–0 lead into the first intermission. 

2nd Period 
The second period erupted with offense as both teams traded momentum swings. Jefferson tied the game at 15:25 on a power-play goal from Owen Ebersol, set up by Carson Barrett and Tyler Sovie. Just 25 seconds later, Redeemer responded with a shorthanded goal from Jake Voskamp, assisted by Tucker Copeland. That brief lead didn't last long, as Jefferson scored three straight goals—Owen Bismarck at 11:22, Cameron Winebar unassisted at 8:27, and another unassisted strike from Ebersol at 5:10. Redeemer stopped the surge at 3:41 when Hayden Fernhout converted with help from Dawson Abrahams and Chase Browne. But the Cannoneers delivered a late blow: with 56 seconds remaining, Mason Savage scored what would be the game-winning goal, assisted by Barrett, putting Jefferson ahead by two goals heading into the final period. 

3rd Period 
The third period settled into a more controlled rhythm, with both teams focusing on defensive structure after a chaotic middle frame. Redeemer managed to chip into the deficit at 14:51 on a power-play tally from Carson Torrie, assisted by Browne. Despite the push, Jefferson held firm the rest of the way, protecting their lead and closing out the inaugural Cranberry Classic with a hard-earned victory over their Ontario visitors.
