Cannoneers Fall to Bishop’s University
Jefferson Hockey falls to Bishops in first game of the Burning Leaves Tournament.
The Jefferson Hockey team opened the Burning Leaves Tournament in Saranac Lake with a tough matchup against Bishop's University, a team from a higher division.
The first period was fast-paced and physical. Bishops scored twice midway through, but Jefferson responded late with a goal from Cameron Winebar, assisted by Owen Bismark, ending the period down 2–1.
In the second, Jefferson ramped up the intensity, trying to force mistakes. Despite several scoring chances, Bishop's added two more goals, extending their lead to 4–1.
The Cannoneers kept battling in the third, but Bishop's capitalized on two power plays to seal a 6–1 win. Jefferson showed resilience and grit against a top-tier opponent.
JCC return's to the ice tomorrow to face Niagara University in Game 2 of the tournament.
