Jefferson Wins 7-6 in Overtime Thriller vs University of Albany!

Game 2: Sunday September 15th Jefferson Community College vs. University of Albany at the Watertown Municipal Arena

On Sunday morning, the hockey team faced the University of Albany for their second game of their preseason showcase. The game was played in Watertown, NY at the Watertown Municipal Arena. To start the game Albany scores 3 goals all within 3 minutes of gameplay to take a demanding 3-0 lead. 6 minutes later on the penalty kill Captain Cameron Winebar weaves through defenders to score the lone Cannoneer goal. The first ends UAlbany 3-1.

The second period was all defense on both sides with one University of Albany goal at the 6 minute mark. Period ends 4-1 UAlbany.

The third period was something written out of a book! UAlbany scores a quick one on their powerplay to take a 4 goal lead. Jefferson just shortly after gets a powerplay chance and they convert! Goal goes to Kyle Gionet assisted by Assistant Captain Jack Mills. Later in play Captain Cameron Winebar strikes again with an unassisted goal to decrease the UAlbany lead to 2. The Cannoneers were riding the momentum all the way through the rest of the third! Kyle Gionet scores again on the powerplay, assist credited to Owen Bismarck. Then to complete the hat trick Cameron Winebar scores another one, assisted by Samuel Stone and Gionet. In the dying moments Sophomore Carson Barrett takes the puck coast to coast and rips one past the goalie post and in to take the lead 6-5! Unfortunately, UAlbany pulls their goalie to go up a man, 6 on 5 in the last seconds and sends one past JCC through traffic to tie the game again at 6! 

Into 3 on 3 overtime, both teams were motivated to get this win! None other than Kyle Gionet to complete the hat trick scores with 2:20 left on the clock! Assists go to Owen Bismarck and Kellan Duffy 

Notable performances during the game were hat tricks by two JCC players, Captain Cameron Winebar and Kyle Gionet! And Jefferson Goalie Assistant Captain Leonard Dormio came in midway through the first frame and stopped 40 shots! JCC ends their pre-season showcase with a perfect 2-0 record!
