The Cannoneers had a big weekend ahead with a need to win situation to make it to playoffs. Game 1 against the Cayuga Spartans started off with #11 Nick Spivey hitting a rbi single in the top of the 1st to bring in a run to get the Cannoneers on the board first 1-0. Bottom of the 1st, the Spartans answer with a sac fly to bring in a run to tie the game 1-1. Top of the 3rd, the Cannoneers offense explodes with #2 Oiram Williams getting hit by the pitch to bring in another run. #11 Nick Spivey scores on a wild pitch adding another run. #6 Daniel Storey hits a rbi single to bring in another. #1 Hunter Kirnie knocks a 2 rbi single to bring in 2 more runs for the Cannoneers. #6 Daniel Storey scores on an error adding another run. #4 Ryan Murnane knocks a 2 rbi single to give the Cannoneers the 9-1 lead over the Spartans. Bottom of the 4th, the Spartans put up 5 runs with a rbi single, a rbi triple, another rbi single, a rbi double and a walk. Bottom of the 4th, #2 Oiram Williams hits a rbi single to get the Cannoneers on the board 15-1 Spartans. Everyone was holding their breathe to see the Cannoneers hang on to the lead enough to win the game. It all came down the last inning, one more out, one pitch determined the fate of the 2026 team. #17 Kyle Peterson pitches one final strike to strikeout the last batter and the game was over. History was made! The Cannoneers finally made it to the playoffs for the first time in years. Cheers from the dugout, bullpen and the crowd rang throughout the field as the team celebrates the much needed victory.
