Jefferson Baseball Wraps up Fall Ball with a Little Friendly Competition
Jefferson Baseball has a friendly competition on the Sackets Harbor Battle Field.
Cannoneer Baseball Competes in Team BATTLE Challenge at the Historic Sackets Harbor War of 1812 Battlefield
On Saturday October 23rd, 2021 the Cannoneer Baseball team held a team-building event in Sackets Harbor, NY at the War of 1812 Battlefield Site. This was a great opportunity for the team, especially players not from this area, to see and experience the history in Sackets Harbor, combined with the military ties our college has. Jefferson Athletics and the baseball team follow a culture of BATTLE in all aspects of being a student-athlete. BATTLE stands for: Buy In – Accountability – Together – Timing – Learn – Effort. These qualities are expected for growth as a person, in the class room, in our strength & conditioning, off-the-field behavior/community service, and of course in baseball activities.
The BATTLE Challenge was structured to focus on each component in a physical-based challenge.
Buy In – Bear crawl relay race
Accountability – Battle carry relay race
Together – Team plank, last man standing
Timing & Learn – Timed scavenger hunt through Sackets Harbor to be completed in 18 minutes and 12 seconds
Effort – Best 2-out-of-3 overhead plate hold, one vs. one
The event proved to be challenging, while bringing out positive teamwork and motivation throughout, all while having fun. The Cannoneers are excited to build off this heading toward the spring season!
