The Cannoneers Drop Two to Cayuga
Jefferson Baseball fell in both games of their doubleheader to Cayuga.

In game one of Tuesday's double header, Cayuga tacked on one in each of the first three innings. The Cannoneers answered with a run in the fourth and fifth to keep the game close. Cayuga then put a five spot on the scoreboard in the fifth inning to stretch their lead. Jefferson answered with five runs in the sixth, but proved to not be enough as Cayuga came away with a 9-7 victory. Jefferson committed four errors during the game resulting in two unearned runs, which ended up being the difference in the score.
Connor O' Donnell pitched five innings allowing seven runs. Stephen Snediker kept the game close by pitching one inning and allowing no runs. Will Simkin came on for one inning in which Cayuga scored an unearned run. Lachlan Rees lead the Cannoneers with three hits including his first collegiate home run over the left field wall. Anthony Martinez and Nate Doremus each contributed two runs batted in.
In game two the Cannoneers got behind early again as Cayuga scored twice in the first inning. JCC then answered by scoring one run in the first and second inning, followed by four runs in the third inning. Cayuga's pitching then held JCC scoreless for the remainder of the game. Cayuga began to chip away with one run in the fourth, followed by a huge five-run inning in the sixth inning to take the lead. Cayuga then added two insurance runs in the seventh inning to take the game. Cayuga took advantage of errors in the field by JCC to power their comeback.
Juan Reynoso-Moncion started on the mound for JCC, pitching four innings, only allowing two earned runs and striking out four. Anthony Martinez pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Will Simkin had a rough inning allowing five earned runs. Stephen Snediker pitched the final inning allowing one earned run. Lachlan Rees again paced the JCC bats in game two with two hits and a hit by pitch. Connor Ashlaw contributed three runs batted in, while Anthony Martinez had one hit and walked twice. Seven different JCC batters collected at least one hit.
