The Lady Cannoneers finished the weekend 2-1 at the Herkimer College POD. First, Jefferson defeated Mohawk Valley in 3 sets: 25-23, 28-26, and 25-16. Next up was Herkimer who Jefferson defeated in 4 sets: 25-16, 13-25, 25-12, and 25-22. The last match of the day was against Fulton Montgomery and the Cannoneers lost in 4 sets: 22-25, 19-25, 25-11, and 14-25. Xanara Ruiz led the way with 36 kills and 54 digs, Bryanna Gagnon added 34 digs and 18 kills, Alexa Runyon added 18 kills and 10 blocks. Kiley Ardison led the defense with 56 digs, Mallory Harter added 33 digs, and Jenna Wilson finished with 15 digs. Cassie Branagan stepped into the middle after Josie Wood got injured during Herkimer. Cassie tallied 9 kills and Josie had 4 before the injury. Mariah Corbett added 4 digs and Vanessa Vallance finished with 15 digs in her first weekend of playing since being cleared from a knee injury. The team will travel to Onondaga Community College this weekend for another round of regional play against Adirondack, Hudson Valley, and North Country. Next Wednesday, October 4th is the last home game of the season and the sophomores will be honored. Come out and support the team!
