Jefferson Baseball Travels to Maryland
This past weekend The Jefferson Baseball team took its first weekend trip of two to Maryland.
The Jefferson Baseball Team took its first weekend trip of two to Maryland this past weekend and played competitively versus top teams that are ranked nationally in Junior College Baseball. Their first game was against Division II Frederick Community College who is ranked 15th in the nation and has been to the Division II World Series three out of the last four seasons. Jefferson lost 12-11 on a walk off in the bottom of the seventh, which was their first time playing outside since November. On Saturday Jefferson played CCBC-Dundalk in Baltimore, Maryland. Again, we played competitively losing both games however losing game two by a score of 5-3 with leaving 12 runners on base. Dundalk is a very competitive team, and is coached by Elliot Oppenhiem who was been the head coach at Dundalk for the past 50 seasons, and is retiring from the game after this season. Sunday Jefferson played Anne Arundel, a Division I baseball program that already has sixteen games played under their belts. Again we were competitive losing both games however lost on a walk off double 10-9 in game two. We will be returning to Maryland to play three top teams again next weekend in Division I Hagerstown, Division III World Series participant Montgomery-Germantown, and another shot at Division II Frederick on Sunday.
